A genus that can often be dismissed by gardeners but should not be. Those listed below are all very garden worthy - the maculatum type make wonderful ground cover, under trees or shrubs or at the front of a shady border.

{About}
We were asked for sweet woodruff so often that we now grow it. Mythical thug for a shady spot where it can spread and display its fragrant white flowers in Spring. Will tolerate dry soils. It was used most effectively as ground cover in a small, shady courtyard show garden at Chelsea 2012, and can be seen at Mottisfont forming a wonderful ground cover under a fig tree.
{Cultivation}
Galium will spread quite vigorously. So a plant that will survive in difficult situations.
