syn Eurybia divariatus - white wood aster. A very lovely species Aster which is easy, mildew free, with shiny dark black stems with white flowers atop the zig zag stems in late Summer/Autumn. Perfect for the shady border in late Summer and thought to have often been used by Gertrude Jekyll in her designs. Recent name change - Eurybia divaricatus.

A bigger plant in all it's parts than divaricatus, it is strong growing with comparatively large white (with pink tones) flowers in August and September.
Easy in semi or full shade even in very dry soils, it won't appreciate conifer dry but very little does.
